We all have a different story with yoga. Some consider it's a type of training, others that it is primarily a spiritual practice, a way of living. I would say that no matter what idea we have of yoga, we can all benefit greatly from it for so many different reasons.
For my part, I discovered this practice at the very beginning of my twenties. It was a time in my life where I doubted everything, when the line between fiction and reality had become very thin. I was looking for landmarks and that's when I started yoga. It became my anchor in my reality. My balance. On the mat, through the postures, I could reconnect to my body, come back to the present and find a sense of peace. It was so much more complete than I could have imagined from watching hyper-flexible people doing “impossible” poses. Now I practice yoga for so many different reasons that it would be hard to name them all.
What I know for sure is that yoga cannot be explained, it must be experienced.
My goal as a teacher is to allow as many people as possible to discover the benefits of the practice for themselves. That no matter where we start, we can all take a first step in the direction of deeper self-discovery through yoga.
